About Jill McLennan

Jill McLennan: I am an observer, a seeker, a discoverer, a creator and a teacher. I seek visual, physical and emotional information and reflect my observations through painting and drawing.  I attended Hampshire College, studying painting and the natural world.  Then, I went to The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where I studied Art Education and began to paint my urban surroundings. In the Bay Area, I am immersed in the city, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the destruction and progress of industry and technology.  I take in the experiences of my students, friends and neighbors to depict our common surroundings in my own visual language. As an artist and an educator, I strive to make a more beautiful vision for the world and the future through the language of visual art.

Here is Jill working on her mural for the Peterson St. Art Wall and Garden project which she organized with her neighbors in Jingletown, JABC.
